The more I study nutrition & healthy cooking techniques, the less food I purchase from the grocery store. Ironically, the real food, the best food – in the closest form to the way God created it – is the hardest to find. When I am cruising the grocery store aisles, I spend a lot of time reading ingredient labels, and when I find a decently pre-made treat, I latch on.
There’s no shame in having jarred pasta sauce on hand for a quick meal. In fact, being from east Texas, I’ve hardly known it any other way. When comparing sauces, look for low sodium, little or no added sugar, and only whole food items on the ingredient list (tomatoes, onions, carrots, olive oil, garlic, basil, sea salt, etc).
