The countdown to being back in the Clean Sheep Kitchen is now in the single digits. It will not be 100% complete, but usable starting next week!
Ten days ago we were looking at this (below) which may not look like progress from Day 1 of the flood, but actually everything here is successfully dried out, treated and the sheet rock beginning to be installed. As of today, thanks to an efficient husband and dedicated workers, we have flooring, painted walls, light fixtures, and a clean slate to begin moving back in to. Record, unbelievable time made.
Throughout the re-building process I’ve wondered a few times if this mess happened because we did not appreciate our home enough, or missed some way that we should use it to serve Him better. You know, deserved to be taught a lesson. But the bible says that our God does not work that way. Jesus did not come to condemn, but to give us life to the fullest, and the Lord kindly placed those scriptures from John 3 & 10 in my path more than once over the past weeks.
God does not waste a hiccup in life (truly all this is) to grow us and allow an opportunity to know Him more. Just before the flood, I was gifted the most lovely interior design book from my mother in-law. The author, Leah Richardson, views creating a peaceful dwelling place for the Lord in our homes the same way I view creating a peaceful & healthy dwelling place for the Lord in our bodies. Leah says,
When the focus of making changes in our home and in our heart are God-centered, both become a living Sanctuary. Both become a place where we can find peace and rest and a place of refuge. When we are a child of God, we can trust that regardless what is going on outside, there is a place of safety and security inside.”
God wants our attention so he can change our hearts and homes and bodies into beautiful dwelling places for Him. Sometimes we long for a fresh start, and sometimes a new beginning is placed upon us uninvited, but we are encouraged in Lamentations 3:22-23 not to be consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
